About that "mandatory optimism" at the end of the report... They always say we don't have much time to stave off collapse - 30 years or 20 years or 10, but they always leave a little window of hope. But what if they're actually lying? I haven't seen a single report that states we are actually screwed. This seems statistically improbable, given the fact that all the planet's carbon sinks and green lungs are going up in smoke right now. That means some of those optimistic conclusions must be lies. And I find that very scary indeed.
